Winthrop University plans to support the Textile Corridor Project by creating a Lifelong Learning Institute to attract residential buyers into the development who desire to take advantage of the educational, cultural, fitness and sporting amenities available on the campus. Recent expansions include the following:

Courtyard at Winthrop- $19 million

Lois Rhame West Health and Wellness Center- $27 million

Owens Hall (academic classroom building)- $6 million

Plans also progressing on a new university library and a new student center building
