The landscape of Rock Hill continues to transform as major redevelopment projects complete, moving Rock Hill toward the long-term vision identified in the Knowledge Park Action Plan. with over $400 million worth of current or upcoming development projects in the urban core of Rock Hill, the Knowledge Park strategy continues to make strides.
Old Town Rock Hill
Old Town Rock Hill is the original downtown of the city. It is home to some of the most popular events and festivals in Rock Hill, including monthly Food Truck Fridays at Fountain Park and the annual ChristmasVille festival, both of which bring thousands of people into the downtown. It also boasts several local restaurants, art galleries, bars, and green spaces that are regularly enjoyed by locals. Old Town's unique character is reflected in its historic architecture and early 20th century craftsman and southern bungalow style housing.
Old Town is also home to Fountain Park Place, a new Class-A office and retail space adjacent to Fountain Park at the southernmost point of Knowledge Park. This building features easy access to all the social amenities of Old Town, as well as business assets like Zipstream Gigabit Internet service.
University Center
University Center is a new 23-acre development that will transform the once-thriving textile mill district into a modern mix of businesses, retail locations, apartments, event spaces, hospitality services, and a world-class indoor athletic facility. Nestled between Winthrop University and Old Town Rock Hill, this site is the heart of Knowledge Park.
Winthrop University
Established in 1886, Winthrop University is a public, co-educational university with over 6,000 students. It offers programs for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professional certifications for continuing education. Winthrop is the most diverse public school in the state of South Carolina, is ranked by several national publications as one of the best public universities in the Southern United States.
